what if those “you’ve just won a giftcard/laptop/big money” things were actually real instead of scams and for years we’ve just been denying free gifts and somewhere in the world someone is like crying behind their computer screen whispering why won’t you just let me do nice things

Some good news!
So today at lunch, I saw the old president of CUSY and started talking to her. Apparently, there’s this couple from CUSY that graduated 5 years back and they’ve gotten married and have a baby now! They’re both doing their PhD studies here at Yale, and I really wanted to get to meet them and sent an e-mail asking for a family photo.
Sorry if that sounds like a weird, prying thing to do, but I am just so happy that people like them exist. If they could work things out and get married and have a beautiful family together, there really is no reason for me to feel like my current relationship is completely futile and doomed.
